Women’s Health of Central Virginia is thrilled to introduce the newest member of our exceptional team, Adam Young, MD. With a unique and deeply personal journey into the world of medicine, Dr. Young brings a wealth of experience and compassion to our practice as an OBGYN. 

Dr. Adam Young’s Education And Experience

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Young’s journey has taken him around the world, including stops in Egypt, Germany, Tennessee, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Dr. Young served as a Special Operations Combat Medic, during which time, he witnessed the highs and lows of life, instilling in him a steadfast dedication to advocating for his patients’ wishes and providingPhoto of dr. Adam young unwavering care. His commitment to his profession has earned him numerous honors and awards, including the Valorous Air Medal, the peer-selected Jerry E. Dempsey Leadership Award, the Leonard Two Humanism Award, and induction into the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Young received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his OBGYN residency at the Marshall University, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. His path to becoming an OBGYN was profoundly influenced by a life-altering personal experience. Originally aspiring to become a small-town family medicine doctor, his life took an unexpected turn during his wife’s third pregnancy. At 22 weeks, they received the heart-wrenching news that their child would not survive after birth. Choosing to carry the pregnancy to term, their son was born during Dr. Young’s first year of medical school. This deeply transformative experience led him to redirect his focus toward women’s health, with a determination to help other families facing similar challenges.

Outside Of The Office

When is not working, Dr. Young likes exploring new restaurants, participating in sports and other outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and children. Additionally, he has a knack for basic car and motorcycle mechanics.
