MEET DR. ADAM YOUNG
Adam Young, MD, joins the Women’s Health of Central Virginia team as an OB/GYN. Dr. Young’s path to becoming an obstetrician and gynecologist was profoundly shaped by a personal experience. Initially aspiring to be a small-town family medicine doctor, his life took a pivotal turn during his wife’s third pregnancy when they learned at 22 weeks that their child would not survive after birth. Choosing to carry the pregnancy to term, their son was born during Dr. Young’s first year of medical school, a transformative experience that led him to focus on women’s health and help other families.
Raised in Greenville, SC, Dr. Young’s journey has taken him around the world, including Egypt, Germany, Tennessee, South Carolina and West Virginia. As a combat veteran, he’s witnessed life’s highs and lows, shaping his dedication to advocating for patients’ wishes and providing unwavering care. Throughout both his military and medical career, Dr. Young has earned several honors and awards, including the Valorous Air Medal, the peer-selected Jerry E. Dempsey Leadership Award, the Leonard Two Humanism Award and induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Outside of the office, Dr. Young enjoys family time with his wife and children, engaging in sports and outdoor activities, and exploring local cuisine. He also has a talent for basic car and motorcycle mechanics. Dr. Young’s compassionate and personal journey makes him a valuable asset in obstetrics and gynecology.
