Women’s Health Services of Central Virginia is seeking an additional OB/GYN for our 12 physician OB/GYN practice in Lynchburg, VA, a historic city in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a great opportunity to join a well established, growing and respected women’s health practice in Lynchburg, VA.
Women’s Health of Central Virginia specializes in providing comprehensive Ob/Gyn care for women of all ages in a comfortable and compassionate environment. We provide complete women’s health services to include utilizing the latest in minimally invasive surgical techniques to ensure our patients have the highest level of care and comfort. We are a physician-led, partnership organization focused on patient care using an evidence-based medicine approach.
We practice out of one office and deliver at only one hospital. Our physician-owned office building has on-site ultrasound, lab and mammogram services. In our hospital, we are supported by 24/7 in-house anesthesia and neonatology services, including a level III NICU. Gynecologic Oncologists from the University of Virginia consult and operate with us one day a week. Our 12-hour call schedule is very conducive to a balanced life. Job Description
Our private office is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Ultrasound Technologist for our busy practice. Enjoy the benefits of working with an awesome group of physicians with no on call hours. Lynchburg is a scenic area in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with multiple outdoor activities and an active arts community.
General Description
Perform OB/GYN ultrasound exams under the supervision of the physicians. Perform OB ultrasound exams on first, second and third trimester patients using 2-D, 3-D, 4-D and transvaginal ultrasound. Perform GYN ultrasound using 2-D and 3-D TVUS, Color Doppler and pulsed Doppler. It is expected for the sonographer to review patient history, obtain clinical information and confirm orders for medical necessity. OB/GYN Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for producing high quality images on each patient per protocol. Provide a positive patient experience. Our sonography department is accredited by AIUM.
Full time position.
Qualifications
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program.
BLS/CPR preferred.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged standing, walking bending and reaching. Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity. Heavy lifting up 50 pound.
Able to move ultrasound machine.

POSITION SUMMARY
The secondary nurse collaborates with the primary nurse and the physician. He or she receives instruction from the primary nurse to ensure the operational efficiency for both physician and patient. The secondary nurse rotates to different providers based on practice staffing needs, utilizing adaptability and flexibility skills. This individual serves as a resource for community services and programs and provides education regarding women’s health. This individual provides safe, patient centered, compassionate and competent care while establishing and maintaining professional and courteous relationships with patients, providers, team members, and management.

- Respond to e-prescriptions, as sent to the primary provider. Abide by the e- prescriptions refill protocol set by Women’s Health.
- Observe patients and assess their general condition, measure and record vital signs, record reason(s) for visit, document review of systems as requested and document changes in patient conditions in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to time of visit, including recent test results and correspondence and determine needed
services per office protocol. Communicate with provider regarding any incomplete tests, consults or orders prior to time of visit. - Assist provider with examination of patient and administering diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatment. Provide basic patient care as directed by provider and as allowed by license, certification or registration.
- Document all activities, interventions, patient and family responses, medications prescribed, referrals ordered, etc. in the EMR during the patient visit.
- Work as part of the healthcare team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions. Communicate with the healthcare team to provide a proactive approach to patient care.
- Obtain lab, x-ray and other reports and results, hospital notes, referral information, consults, etc. Monitor, track and resolve outstanding orders, referrals, consults, labs, procedures, etc. in EMR.
- Notify patients of lab and test results and any changes in provider orders, etc. and document notification in the EMR.
- Complete forms and obtain ABNs as needed or required by patients’ insurance.
- Schedule tests, treatments or procedures as needed.
- Provide patient education materials and communicate provider advice and instructions.
- Answer patient calls and determine how to assist them as needed. Triage patient needs and identify necessary plan of action within office policy such as scheduling an appointment, triaging for a provider or directing the patient to the ER, etc. as needed. Document thoroughly in patient chart. Remain aware and knowledgeable of the Nausea Protocol and Early Pregnancy Protocol. Manage phone nurse folders. Provide exceptional customer service over the phone.
- Set up instruments and equipment according to office protocols and prepare exam and procedure rooms. Clean exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Sort and store supplies to ensure availability as needed for patient care. Restock exam and procedure rooms.
- Adhere to infection control safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
- Complete training for Centra’s Provider Portal and utilize the Portal to obtain test
reports and results, consult notes and other records as needed. - Provide safe, patient centered, compassionate and competent care.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and the public. Work with peers and providers in a team environment.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
- Maintain annual competencies for medical assistant certification or registration or nursing license. Maintain CPR certification.

Women’s Health of Central Virginia is seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (Advanced Practice Provider) to join our team full time.
The Advanced Practice Provider will work in collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff in providing primary and specialty care to women, including preventative health examinations, family planning services, prenatal and postpartum care, and managing gynecological conditions. The Advanced Practice Provider works within the scope of a written practice agreement with a patient care team physician. The Advanced Practice Provider reports to the Advanced Practice Provider Director under the direction of the Advanced Practice Provider Physician Liaison.

The surgical schedulers work closely with the physicians, patients and other employees, staff of Centra Health and The Surgery Center of Lynchburg. This position is responsible for scheduling preoperative testing, surgeries, procedures, referrals and preop/post op appointments with the physicians. This position is also responsible for working with insurance companies to obtain insurance authorizations and coordinating between physicians, patients and hospital staff to ensure all requirements have been met. Multi-system scheduling requires exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
