MEET DR. J. STUART MAY
Dr. Stuart May engages patients with an approachable and optimistic demeanor. He is a board certified OB/GYN who specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology, menstrual disorders, contraception, high-risk pregnancy, DaVinci platform robotic surgery, office hysteroscopy, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. As the regional leader in case volume, Dr. May was an early adopter of vaginal laparoscopy using the vNOTES platform as another minimally invasive approach to pelvic surgery.
He enjoys building relationships with patients over time and being able to provide continuity of care throughout all stages of life from adolescence to pregnancy to menopause. Dr. May says, “Bringing life into the world is exciting, beautiful, and such a blessing.” Dr. May encourages all of his patients to ask questions (big or small) as he strives to help in any way possible.
As a Richmond native, Dr. May played football during his undergraduate years at Randolph-Macon College and attended Virginia Commonwealth University for medical school. After spending time in West Virginia for his residency training at Marshall University, Dr. May and his wife moved to Central Virginia to be closer to family.
His wife, Allison, is a teacher at Bedford County Public Schools. The Mays welcomed their first daughter in June 2018 and expanded their family again in March 2021 with the arrival of their son. In his free time, Dr. May enjoys taking walks with his family, playing basketball, throwing baseball and football, golfing, watching sports, being outdoors, reading and learning about Virginia’s rich history.
