Da Vinci® Surgical System in Lynchburg, VA

In the past, surgeons made large incisions through the skin and muscle of the abdomen to access the surgical site and perform the necessary operation. Some surgeries still require the large incision, but with today’s advancements in technology, many surgeries can be performed with minimally invasive techniques using robotic accuracy.

The da Vinci® surgical system allows the doctor to perform laparoscopic surgery, using highly magnified 3D views of the surgical area with smaller instruments that offer a greater range of motion. Other advantages to using the da Vinci® system include:

  • Greater surgical precision
  • Increased range of motion
  • Greater dexterity
  • Enhanced visualization, including the ability to magnify areas that may not be seen with the naked eye
  • Greater access to hard to reach areas
  • Improved ability to spare healthy tissue

The providers at Women’s Health of Central Virginia are highly trained in this advanced surgical system and are pleased to offer the da Vinci® surgical system as an alternative surgical option to the Lynchburg community.

The da Vinci® surgical system is used to perform numerous female reproductive procedures such as hysterectomies, myomectomy, sacrocolpopexy and endometriosis resection.
